Service Calls

Don't panic.  Not having air condtioning, in Florida, in the summer, is THE WORST.  We know.  We've all been there and we empathize with you.  We're going to get one of our friendly, trained professionals to your door as soon as possible and it won't cost you a small fortune.

Here's a few tips and tricks to save you some money before you call... Please don't feel like you HAVE to do ANY of these ideas, you're certainly welcome to call us (better safe than sorry), but there's of course a service charge of $79 should we be dispatched to you. Don't forget to mention when you call or email if you have any of our maintenance plans from page 1.

- Has it been over 30-90 days since you've changed your ac filter (if the one you pull out is terribly impacted with dirt, you may need to thaw your system out before turning it back on in order to get proper cooling)

- Do you have a dehumidistat limiting if your system can turn on (if you don't know what that is, you probably don't have one)

-Do you have an FPL on call box tied into your air conditioner that may be temporarily shut off by the power company (if you sign up for their program they give you a credit on your statement but reserve the right to turn off your ac system during higher demand periods)

- Are all your breakers turned on? (Sometimes a breaker can partially trip and still LOOK like its on, I recommend turning it all the way off and back on to ensure it wasn't tripped)

-Has their been a recent thunderstorm that may have caused a brown out or minor electrical event in your neighborhood?
(often times systems built within the last 5-10 years are equipped with board inside them that trip when things don't appear to be acting right, sometimes you can reset those boards by turning off all breakers to the system for 5 minutes and turning them back on).

Now that being said, lets assume you've reached your limit.  You're ready to throw in the towel and let the pro's take over.  Here's a few little favors that we'll ask you to do for us while we're getting you on the board, dispatching a driver, etc.

- Make sure we have access to your air handler (the indoor/attic/garage unit) and your condenser (outdoor unit), unlock and remove any obstructions to any service doors and disconnects you can, including your main panel.  If you're in a condo with a condenser on the roof, check with the building to ensure we have access. We may need access to any and all of that and if you're unable to move something please don't hurt yourself, we're happy to help when we arrive.

- Shut the system down.  If you know for a fact that the unit is frozen you can leave your fan set to 'on' (if its blowing) and set the system to 'off' so it can thaw.  If you aren't even getting the fan to come on shut everything off for us so nothing over heats or does additional damage to the system

- Stay calm!  As we said in the first paragraph, we know.  You're going to get hot, possibly cranky.  You might be worried about the cost, the inconvenience, the 'stranger' that you now have to invite into your home.  Believe me, we understand.  It's not fun and we plan to make it as painless as possible for you as soon as we can.

- Check your files for warranty paper work.  This can help us when we address your manufacturer.  We may need a copy of your warranty to scan into our system and proof of maintenance for the past two years depending on the manufacturer.

- Consider waiting until morning!  It sounds funny to say, but late night service calls, unless they are true emergencies rarely result in the happiest of clients.  Our parts houses are only open 9-5, Monday-Friday.  That's not our company, that's our suppliers, which is everyone's suppliers.  There's usually longer wait times at night, and its typically going to take longer to troubleshoot a problem in the dark by flashlight.  Those are just facts of life, and along with being kind and professional, we like to also be honest, maybe even kind of frank sometimes, but we do want your business.  If you need us, call us!

Contact us any time, day or night, to set up an appointment.
We look forward to speaking with you!
